5 tips for hosting a great party

November 23, 2008

If you’re planning to host a soiree for your clients, an event for staff or a bit of a get together for friends, here are 5 tips to help ensure a fab festive function:

1) Drinks: Shop around for your beverages - there are some great bargains to be had online, sometimes up to 40% savings on what you’d pay in the shop. Some even ship to your door free of charge.

2) Food: Consider starting with lighter food/canapés and then build to something heavier such as a ham carvery, as people get hungrier throughout the night. Even packages of Fish n Chips can be a fun (you can organise them to be wrapped in fancy paper or served in paper cones if you’re function is a bit posh).

3) Smell: It’s great to try and engage all of the senses at your party including smell. Try burning a vanilla candle for a few hours before your guests arrive or close the room off to let the smell of the flowers waft through.

4) Venue: Consider something a bit different for your venue. Yes it could be at home, but how about setting your party up on the lawn with lanterns hanging in the trees, or your staff party at the Zoo or in a park with silver service waiters serving your food.

5) Create 1 ‘wow’ factor: You don’t need to go overboard, but it’s good to create 1 ‘wow’ moment for your guests. It could be a striking centrepiece, the venue itself, the lighting you have set up or a platter of hot scented hand-clothes passed around between courses.

…………………..and if that all seems too hard because you’re frantically busy and running out of time, just give the team at Legwork Concierge a call and we can simplify your life by managing it all for you. Then all you need to do is arrive at your party and enjoy the evening.

No more scraps of paper for you!

November 17, 2008

At this time of the year it seems like the lists of things to do just keep piling up - with notes jotted down in a hurry on the nearest piece of paper you can find.  And while that seemed like a good idea at the time, you can guarantee the task you now need to follow up on has been written on the random piece of paper you can’t find.

In order to make your day just that much easier, we’ve designed a to-do list that you can just print off whenever you need it.

So hopefully that creates a bit more time in your day and saves you from having to turn your desk upside down or forage through the rubbish bin for that elusive scrap of paper.

TIP: Print off five for the week, label them Monday-Friday, then just jot down your tasks on the appropriate day as they come up.
